What are you doing?:

Choose from the tasks below to start the estimation process. The questions on the following page will get you a list of fee estimates and permits needed.

Building Permits

Any work on a residential or commercial building, includes new construction, remodels, and / or additions.
Advertising signage painted on buildings, freestanding, or sign structures attached to a building.
Demolition of an entire building or structure.
Relocate, remove, or new. Includes piping, toilets. Showers, sinks, dishwashers, laundry hookups, water heaters.
Relocate, remove, or new installation: ventilation units, duct work, dryer hookups, exhaust fans, heating, a/c units. Only Residential at this time.
Installation of fire alarm, fire sprinkler, kitchen hood suppression, clean agent suppresion system, standpipe, pump, radio enhancement system, or smoke control.

Site Permits

On-site grading, gravel, cut, and fill over 50 cubic ards, paving, parking striping, landscaping, stormater facilities.
Replacement, addition, or repair of connections from site to sewer main (side sewer).
Replacement, addition, or repair of connections from the meter to the building for domestic water service.
Replacement, addition, or repair of connections from the site to the City stormwater system.

Other Permits

Property line changes, zoning interpretations, and discretionary review.
Events of 50 or more people assembling, and / or traveling on public streets, sidewalks, beaches, parks, plazas, etc.
Minor permits for work withing city right-of-way that do not require a civil engineer including construction, occupancy, or utility work.

You may need additional permits such as electrical or mechanical that have separate costs. Some permits have additional hourly fees for inspections. If your project includes a Right-of-Way Occupancy (ROCC) Permit, there are additional annual fees that apply, see Tacoma Municipal Code 9.08.075 for a detailed fee schedule. Changes to streets and infrastructure within the right-of-way will likely require a separate right-of-way or work order permit (coming soon). The estimation above is only for the permits chosen on the first page.
